Fine Jewelry Care

Simona Fine Italian Jewelry can last a lifetime with proper care.

General Tips for Jewelry Care
  • Remove your jewelry before any activity where it could be damaged, such as gardening, cooking, athletics and swimming. Chlorinated water attacks gold jewelry and can damage colored stones such as pearls and other organic gems.
  • Store your jewelry is in an individual box or pouch, or in a separate compartment of a jewelry box. The boxes at Simona Fine Italian Jewelry are ideal for storage. Chains should be fastened, wrapped and laid flat to prevent them from knotting. It is advisable to check clasps regularly.
  • Avoid contact with cosmetics, hair spray and cleaning products- especially ammonia- to prevent discoloration and damage.
  • Do not subject your jewelry to extreme temperature changes.
Jewelry Cleaning Tips
  • Before cleaning your jewelry, make sure to cover the sink's drain with a soft mat.
  • Regularly soak your jewelry- including hand-painted enamel- in warm, soapy water using a mild, detergent-free soap.
  • Gently clean your jewelry using a soft toothbrush, except for pearls. See our tips for cleaning pearls below.
  • Wipe the pieces dry with a lint-free, soft cloth.
  • For your beautiful Annamaria Cammilli jewelry, we recommend gently drying items with a hairdryer.
Caring For Pearls
  • Put cultured pearls on after applying cosmetics, perfumes and other personal care products.
  • Keep pearls, which are relatively soft and subject to scratching, separate from other jewelry in a soft silk pouch or cloth.
  • Restring frequently-worn pearl necklaces about once a year, either with silk or nylon to prevent breaking. It's also best to tie individual knots between each cultured pearl to prevent scratching one another or being lost in case of a break.
  • Do not wear pearls necklaces when their string is wet. Wet strings stretch and attract dirt, which is hard to remove.
Cleaning Pearls
  • Wipe pearls with a soft damp or dry cloth after each wearing to remove dirt and perspiration.
  • Periodically wash pearls with a mild soap and lay them out on a moist towel to dry.
  • Occasionally dampen pearls with water and polish them with a drop of olive oil to maintain their luster.
  • Never use commercial jewelry cleaners unless they are made for pearls.
  • Never use ultrasonic, steam cleaners, detergents, baking soda, bleaches, or any ammonia-based cleansers.
Do not use toothbrushes, scouring pads or abrasive materials to clean pearls.
