Gabriella Rivalta

Enamel jewelry unites with brilliant gold and jewels.

For over 35 years, trained painter Gabriella Rivalta has utilized ancient enamelwork techniques to create enameled miniatures, or "illuminated gold." Inspired by fairy-tales and nature, Rivalta's jewelry unites her detailed enamelwork with 18k Italian gold and cascades of gems. Experience the unmistakable quality of Italian art in each of Rivalta's hand-painted pieces.

The Meticulous Process of Enamelwork
In order to perfect her own enamelwork, Rivalta has researched the enamelwork produced by ancient cultures, such as the Phoenicians. The following steps illustrate how Rivalta creates her enamel jewelry:

Rivalta sketches a detailed drawing of the jewelry, which her talented colleagues later handcraft in her studio.

Next, she completes the draft by painting it with the vibrant, transparent colors that will be featured in her jewelry. In the meantime, Rivalta's artisans melt enamel at 800 degrees and allow it to cool.

Rivalta's colleagues paint the colors and details of her sketch onto a base of 18K Italian gold. Next, the gold is carefully glazed with the cooled enamel and fired. Rivalta and her skilled artists repeat the glazing, firing and painting process several times.

This piece of jewelry has achieved the desired detail and depth of color, but still needs to be decorated with Rivalta's signature gemstones.

Finally, the pin is adorned with star-shaped diamonds.

The finished jewelry reflects the intricate handcraftsmanship of Rivalta and her gifted artisans.
